I’m a 1st generation Haitian American who grew up in Lawrence, MA, a predominantly Hispanic city in the New England area. Not only was I a minority but I also had a speech impediment. I used to stutter to the point where I would start a sentence, proceed to stutter, embarrassment would set upon me and I would just leave the conversation.

Growing up the people closest to me told me I couldn’t accomplish anything, so I used that chip on my shoulder to accomplish everything. It was my undeniable self-belief and faith that pushed me through my hardships and allowed me to excel at the highest level.

“If you don’t believe in yourself how do you expect others to?” With all that I’ve accomplished, I know that my job isn’t finished yet so I spend my days working out, reading, studying, and journaling in my free time which allows me to get 1% better every day. I ask myself this question every day: How bad do you want it?
